I need to mix up the blog a bit so I found this meme over at The Book Date. I will cover what I just finished, what I’m reading now, and what I plan to read next.
I haven’t made a Blogmas theme post yet so I figured I better get on it with the first week of December coming to an end.
As a person who has a spouse who is not a book lover, I can understand it can be challenging to think of gifts to get for that book lover in your life. So I made this list thinking it could be of use to not only my spouse but maybe to others’ as well. Maybe you want to send this list of ideas to your family or maybe you want to buy yourself a holiday gift! Treat yourself!
Hello again! Tuesday’s main blog post will be dedicated to at least one tag. I searched for #booktag on Twitter and saw one that I had to do because my obsession with this topic is so real. And that is. *drum roll* CHIPOTLE. Just in case you’re curious, here is my typical order when I go to Chipotle: burrito bowl, white rice, steak, mild, sour cream, and cheese.
Hello! Thanks for checking back in on my blog! I have been brainstorming so much that my head feels like a hurricane! I want to make my blog somewhere I can organize my reading plans and give solid reviews for books that I have read. In addition, I want to keep a log of my reading moods through out the month. Maybe some of you will be able to relate.
I have decided to create a “Checking In” post every so often where I, you guessed it, check in with you all! If I haven’t been blogging much or am really excited about an upcoming book, I may create a post just like this where I give a bit of an update on what I am currently doing/feeling.
So lets get into it!
Right now, I am hyper focusing on this blog and how it looks. I have finally got a style/theme down in which it can grow from. Now I can start organizing my content and publishing posts.
For reading, it has been a slow month for me. I finished 2 books that carried over from my October TBR: A Court of Mist and Fury and Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow..
I decided not to make a November TBR so I could take some of the pressure off to finish books quickly
I am finally on the 3rd installment of Sarah J. Maas’s A Court of Thorns and Roses series. I read the first book independently and really enjoyed it. By the time I was ready to read the second book, the timing aligned with a buddy read that was happening between some great friends that I have made in the Booktube community. Zoe, Kylie, and Lela. Zoe, flew through the second and third book before most of us were even finished with the original buddy read of the second book. To say she loved it is an understatement. By now, I am pretty sure I am the last one to finish the 3rd book. I have just been in a slump where I can’t get my ass in gear to read the things I like. Maybe its because the book is so huge that I know its going to take me forever so I am putting it off. I am enjoying it but I also don’t want it to be over. I plan to do one huge blog post about this entire series and why I don’t think its problematic in the relationship sphere.
I am mostly listening to The Hating Game for my commute to and from work so its going a bit slow. I am not sure how I feel about it yet. I suppose this can be categorized into the Romance genre and its not a genre that I read often. So far, the main protagonist annoys me but I am a sucker for a hate to love trope so I plan to finish it. I live for sex/smutty scenes in books so I just have to be a little patient.
As I said, I refused to make a solid TBR for November. BUT there are two readathons I want to participate in the first week of December which are (click pictures for link):
I am going to be doing my best to cheat on these readathons (as in using the same book for as many prompts as possible) so that I can have minimal stress but still take part in the fun. Honestly, this will probably be my last readathon that I participate in. In the future, I will make an entire post regarding that decision. But in the mean time, I am ready to cosy up and prepare for the holiday season with these two great readathons! I will have my TBR posted for these by the end of the week!
I am not participating in NanoWriMo this year but I might next year (probably not lol). However, I have many friends who are working their tails off this month on their novels. One friend being Seihren, over at The Bookish Witch (she’s taking a break from Youtube but is still around on Twitter). I am calling her out on this blog post because she decided to let me read her WIP (work in progress) and I am THRILLED to have the honor of beta reading her work. I have read Seihren’s short stories in the past and loved everything about them. I will admit that I am behind on reading her current updates but this is moving to my priority list as soon as I am done writing this blog entry. I am so proud of her and all my friends taking part in Nano!
For those of you who don’t know, I am a full time student and full time working mom. I just wrapped up WEEK 5 of the semester at school which leaves me with just 3 weeks of work left until I get a glorious MONTH OFF from classes. In addition, I work in the school system so I get a nice long holiday break. I often complain about my work setting but when the holiday season comes around, I am appreciative of working in a school.
My daughter’s 3rd birthday is coming up in a few weeks, so I need to start preparing for her party. Which means CHRISTMAS is just around the corner too. Time to start making the christmas list! I am so excited to decorate for the holidays and put up all the lights outside. My husband fully indulges me on this obsession and happily goes along with all the traditions I have set up for my family (including matching jammies for the entire family).
We should be doing some minor renovations to our basement to make it functioning again after a pretty intense flood a few months ago. My office and the kids’ playroom was in the finished basement so we are kind of displaced with all of our stuff being in piles and stacks. I look forward to having my office back!
That about wraps up my first edition of “Checking In!” I am in love with blogging so far. I feel it gives me more room to be creative and say everything I want to say. Thanks for reading and I hope you stick around for more content!
So here I am, ready to dive into a new endeavor. I am taking a step back from Booktube to try my hand at something that (maybe) will appeal to me better: Blogging.
