Down the TBR Hole #1

Down the TBR Hole #1

I saw this “meme post” over at A Court of Crowns and Quills and realized that I need to clean up my TBR list on Goodreads. This an original theme created by Lost in a Story.

How it works:

  • Go to your Goodreads to-read shelf.
  • Order on ascending date added.
  • Take the first 5 (or 10 if you’re feeling adventurous) books
  • Read the synopses of the books
  • Decide: keep it or should it go?

1.) The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin

Date Added to TBR: 12/26/2011

This book was added nearly 7 years ago! It is a non-fiction book about a woman’s experiences trying to live her best life. At 300 pages, it isn’t a long read but I am just not feeling self help books.

Verdict: Delete

2.) Skinny Bitch: A No Nonsense, Tough-Love Guide for Savvy Girls Who Want to Stop Eating Crap and Start Looking Fabulous by Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin

196613

Date Added to TBR: 12/26/2011

Yikes. I think this book and the last book are indicators of where my mental health was at the end of 2011. I don’t think I need to give a summary on this book to show that it is probably trash.

Verdict: Delete

3.) Change of Heart by Jodi Picoult

1609451

Date Added to TBR: 12/26/2011

Jodi Picoult will forever be one of my favorite authors. I started reading her books in high school and will always have a spot for her work. I have read most of her books but never got around to this one. I do own it and still want to read it.

Verdict: Keep

4.) Outlander by Diana Gabaldon

10964

Date Added to TBR: 12/26/2011

I would consider this a pretty well known series. There are currently 8 books. I think I would enjoy this series but it would take me some time to get through it and I don’t think I will be ready any time soon to dive into whole new world that requires me to pay close attention to details.

Verdict: Delete

5.)  Secrets She Left Behind by Diane Chamberland

6251052

Date Added to TBR: 12/26/2011

Although this book has a pretty high rating on Goodreads, I don’t think it is something I am still interested in reading. I used to read a lot of contemporary and this book was probably suggested to me by Goodreads. I’m ver “meh” about this one

Verdict: Delete

Conclusion

I think my first Down the TBR Hole has been a success! I only kept 1/5 books that I listed today and I like that I can already see my list shrinking. I will be doing more of these posts on a regular basis. Have a great day!
